Delete your Farsider data

Farsider has no accounts. There is no email address, password or phone number to delete. Most of what the app keeps is on your phone. A little is on our server, and only if you use rider groups or a shared trip.

This page is for the Farsider app on Android and iPhone, published by Verano Solutions BV. The full privacy policy is at https://farsider.app/privacy.

What is stored where

On your phone: your settings, saved places and recent searches, trips and GPX files, downloaded maps and cached satellite imagery, your group profile (display name and avatar), your group sign-in secret and the keys of your groups, the Local guide's memory and its install ID, and usage statistics waiting to be sent with their install ID.

On our server (farsider.app), only if you use groups:

At PostHog (usage statistics, if they are on): events with a random install ID, a 5 km area and the country. No name, no account, no exact position.

On our server, if you use the Local guide: the stories your phone asked for and a ride's script, with the Local guide's random install ID.

Delete it in the app

These work the same on Android and iPhone.

Your rider profile and groups: Menu → Groups → Reset identity

Tap "Reset identity", then tap again to confirm ("Leave all groups? Tap again"). The app then:

Your display name and avatar stay on the phone, so you can join a group again later.

Do this with a signal. If the phone can't reach our server, the app still forgets you on the phone, but your profile stays on the server until it expires by itself (90 days, see below).

Trips you shared stay with the groups that still use them, with your display name, until they expire (7 days after their last use).

Usage statistics: Menu → General → "Share anonymous usage" off

Switching it off deletes the events waiting on the phone and the app's install ID, and nothing more is sent. Events already sent to PostHog carry only the random install ID, which no longer exists on your phone, so they can't be linked to you. They are deleted when PostHog's retention period ends.

Local guide: Menu → Local guide

"Forget heard stories" and "Forget what I like" clear the guide's memory on the phone.

Everything on the phone: uninstall the app

Uninstalling Farsider deletes everything it keeps on the phone, including maps, trips and saved places. A backup of your phone (Google or iCloud) may still hold some app files until that backup is replaced. Uninstalling does not reach our server: use Reset identity first if you are in a group.

What is deleted automatically

Our server checks every minute and deletes:

Data Deleted
Your position in a group 60 minutes after it was last received, or at once when you switch the group off or leave it
A trip shared with a group 7 days after it was last used
A record that a route change was applied after 24 hours
Your rider profile 90 days after you last used groups, leaving all your groups
A group when its last member leaves, or after 180 days without activity
Local guide requests after 90 days

Weather and Local guide route points are not stored: the server uses them to answer and forgets them. Our server's logs hold no IDs, names or positions.

Ask us by email

Write to [email protected] with "Delete my data" in the subject. Because there are no accounts, tell us what helps us find your data, for example your display name and the name of a group you are in. We delete it within one month and tell you when it is done. If we can't find data that belongs to you, we tell you that too.
