Farsider support

Farsider is a navigation app for motorcycle riders, on Android and iPhone. It works offline: you download maps for the regions you ride, and routing, turn-by-turn voice guidance and search run on the phone, with no signal needed. It finds curvy roads, shows gravel and road surfaces, follows your GPX trips day by day, warns of rain along the route, and lets a group of friends see each other and share one route.

Questions

Do I need a signal to navigate?

No. Once a region's map is downloaded (Menu → Maps), the map, routing, voice guidance and search for places in that region all work offline. A signal is used only for extras: weather, rider groups, the Local guide, satellite imagery, and searching for places outside your maps. On mobile data, the app asks before it downloads a map.

How do I ride with friends in a group?

Menu → Groups → New group. Then Show QR, and your friends scan it with Scan QR in their app (or with the phone's camera). You can also Share link: a link works for 24 hours, a QR code for 5 minutes. While a group is switched on, everyone sees each other on the map while riding, and anyone can set or change the group's route. You pick a display name and an avatar; no account is needed. A group holds up to 16 riders.

My invite doesn't work.

Ask for a fresh QR code or link: QR codes are replaced every 5 minutes and links expire after 24 hours. Joining needs a signal. If the group already has 16 riders, it is full.

How do I import a GPX file?

Open the GPX file with Farsider from your files, email or a messaging app (Share → Farsider), or add it in Menu → Trips. Farsider splits a multi-day trip into days and lets you follow one day at a time. GPX files stay on your phone unless you share a trip with a group.

Does it drain my battery?

Navigation keeps GPS and the screen on, as every navigation app does. On a long ride, keep the phone on a charger. To save power: lower the screen brightness, turn off weather in Menu → General, and switch a group off when you don't need it (group riding sends your position every few seconds). Farsider uses location in the background only while you navigate.

What data does Farsider collect?

There is no account. Anonymous usage statistics are on by default and can be turned off in Menu → General → "Share anonymous usage". The full details are in the privacy policy: https://farsider.app/privacy.

How do I delete my data?

Details: https://farsider.app/delete-data.

The map says there is no map here.

Farsider needs a downloaded map for the area you are in. Open Menu → Maps and get the region.
